Countdown to Graduation Day

The following is a review of a Cap, Gown, Tassel, and Diploma from Homeschool Diploma with the TOS Homeschool Review Crew.

My daughter Emily's high school graduation is just one month away, and she has been checking more and more off of her list. ACT prep, college application, scholarship applications, college tours, invitations ordered, senior pictures, diploma, cap, and gown ordered, acceptance letter... big and small things have all been exciting. With this review, she had the opportunity to completely personalize details she wanted included on her diploma. (The one pictured immediately below is a sample, not hers.) Hers arrived quickly, and it is gorgeous!

We ordered my oldest daughter's diploma from Homeschool Diploma two years ago, so the process was familiar but some of the options have changed. There were even more decisions for Emily to make about her diploma than Heather did, and she equally enjoyed designing one that suited her perfectly. Every aspect of the diploma can be customized as you click through options in 12 steps from the font and type of paper to specific wording. Emily chose an 8 1/2 x 11 diploma. They also offer 6 x 8”. They even have an option gilded with 23 karat gold!

For this review, we received a personalized diploma, cap, gown, and tassel from Homeschool Diploma. We discovered that in addition to their standard diplomas and personalized diplomas, Homeschool Diploma even offers invitations and class rings! They are virtually a one-stop shop for graduation.

My daughter sat beside me and designed her diploma online on our laptop. First, you can choose a seal. The engraved seal that Emily likes best happened to match the colors chosen by our homeschool group's seniors—royal blue and gold. Each step had multiple options in a pull down window.

In Louisiana, we are required to name our homeschool when we register our students each year. That name was what we chose to add to the top of both girl's diplomas. My son recently reduced it to just the initials.

Emily chose Matthew 5:16 as her senior verse. It was added to the diploma in a pretty script font. “Let  your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Emily chose the classic hand lettered calligraphy for her name.

My children have been in BETA club since it was first offered in our homeschool group, and Emily’s official BETA sticker will be added to the bottom right of her diploma, opposite the honors seal (Summa Cum Laude) which we chose based on her GPA which we were able to have added to the left side.
Now, in addition to diplomas, Homeschool Diploma also offers caps, gowns, and tassels. The gowns are made of thick, sturdy fabric-- if her little brother hadn't already outgrown her, he could use it when he graduates in 2022.

The group decided to use royal blue matte gowns, so her color decision was already made. She just had to measure her height wearing the heels she plans to wear to her ceremony to make sure to get the right length gown. When she took her senior pictures, her photographer joked about how many kids wear the graduation cap incorrectly. We laughed about it again when her package arrived and we noticed that the inside of the cap is marked so clearly.

There is even a spot to write her name inside so she can claim the right one after that traditional shot of the grads all tossing their caps into the air after graduation.
She has her dress planned and has practiced moving over the tassel on her cap. Now we are finalizing graduation details with the parents of other seniors in our group. The group has grown so much since we joined it when Emily was in kindergarten that we now have our graduation ceremony at a local college. I'll share a picture of that day next month with her in her royal blue gown-- big change from the pastel pink one passed down from her big sis that she wore at home after completing kindergarten. It does not feel like that was twelve years ago!

Visit Homeschool Diploma on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, and be sure to tell them hi from Jennifer at A Glimpse of Our Life. They also offer 8th grade diplomas as well as supplies for kindergarten graduation.
