Where the Wild Things Are

"The middle of nowhere" is what a friend's son calls our home.

Nine wild hogs crossed in front of our van on our driveway as we returned home after the children's choir performance Sunday night. One tiny one ran the other way, or so I thought until I saw it more clearly. It was an armadillo. The baby hogs were about 8 times bigger than it was. Exactly a week earlier, my husband and youngest daughter were alerted by our dogs that wild hogs were nearby on the pond bank.

Panthers, wild hogs, snapping turtles, snakes, and ticks have all been spotted nearby recently.
