the nest

When my oldest child was very little, I remember my Powpow commenting that she appeared to be snug in a nest when we had blankets supporting her head inside her bouncy seat. I was reminded of that again with Granny. Confined to bed, we propped pillows just so behind her neck and under her arms until her hospital bed also resembled a nest. It seemed somehow fitting for Granny as bird watching was such a favored pastime of hers. The picture my daughter recently drew that was displayed on Granny's wall fit my thoughts.

I found myself revert to my own childhood nest like posture. We had moved the large padded recliner into the room, and without thinking I turned sideways in it propping my legs up across one chair arm.

"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart." Ps. 91:4

  2. When visiting with "Granny", I loved to sit at her dining room table to watch the doves which she especially enjoyed. There is a garden decoration hanging on her flower stand which says "Welcome to my nest." The picture of the bird drawn and hung on her wall reflects a gentle spirit.
