Christian Kids Explore Chemistry

One of my first reviews with the TOS Homeschool Crew was the original Christian Kids Explore Chemistry. I have enjoyed using many products from Bright Ideas Press since then and was happy with the opportunity to try this newly revised edition. We received a download of the new 2nd edition which is available as a book with a CD. This allows parents to print multiple copies of the consumable worksheets and coloring pages.

The brand-new CD includes Daily Lesson Plans, Materials Lists, Bonus Literature Study Guide, and All Reproducibles, such as:
  • Coloring Pages
  • Unit Reviews
  • Follow-Up Questions for each lesson
  • Activity Charts
We enjoy hands on science. These lessons fit well with that as they include experiments which are always fun as well as coloring sheets so even my 7 year old has something appropriate for him included. My high school student will be learning Chemistry next fall, and we will be using this resource to cover some of the same topics with my younger two children at their level.

From Bright Ideas Press:

Teach chemistry to kids in grades 4 to 8 with Scripture integrated from cover to cover. Comprehensive workbook authored by trained educators provides 30 lessons, each grouped into five units. Vocabulary words and materials lists are provided for each section, with every lesson clear and easy to follow. Creatively illustrated, well- organized, and presented from a biblical world view - indexed, with author bios included.

30 Lessons in five units
  • Hands-On Activities: including making model atoms, breaking covalent bonds, and making gas expand.
  • Chemistry Terms, Notations, and Rules
  • Unit Reviews
  • Supplemental Book List
  • Coloring pages
This is all you need to teach a strong, basic chemistry course for Junior high and upper elementary students.

Christian Kids Explore Chemistry is available from Bright Ideas Press for $39.95. They also have Physics, Biology, and Earth & Space books in this series.

Disclaimer: As a reviewer for the 2011-2012 TOS Homeschool Review Crew, I was given a copy of this resource for the purpose of this review. All opinions shared are my own. Be sure to check out other reviews at the TOS Homeschool Crew Blog.
