Women of Faith Conference

My daughter and I just returned to the hotel after our first amazing day at the Women of Faith conference, sponsored by Booksneeze. The theme is imagine, and maybe as I share a few highlights you can imagine a bit of what we experienced.

One of the first speakers was Sheila Walsh. I love listening to her beautiful Scottish accent, and she even had bagpipes playing in the music she shared.  To quote her "There is nothing on earth that will make you more beautiful than the Word of God. It transforms you from the inside." She shared about studying the promises of God- over 300 of them in His Holy Word! "The promises of God are what we can stand on when everything else fails."

The founder of Women of Faith conferences, Steve Artenburn, shared how this ministry was started because of the Holy Spirit. Over 4 million women have attended these conferences! He shared about walls that we build which keep us from living the full life that God has for us. Later he and Sheila had a Q&A session from questions submitted by the audience.

On the way here I started reading Lisa Harper's book Stumbling Into Grace. In person she is just as genuine as she comes across on those pages, sharing from her own experiences and from God's Word. She shared of bikers stopping to offer her assistance on the side of the road and challenged- what if every Christian stopped and asked "Are you OK?" to someone broken down on life's highway.

We all know ladies can wear a lot of different hats. Nicole Johnson demonstrated vividly with her skit of each role representing multiple personalities.

The music at this conference is such a blessing. I was most looking forward to the beautiful worship with an arena full of ladies singing to our Jesus, and I was not disappointed. The worship team led us in singing "You are God...You are all I'm living for...You are King of everything; I want to praise you." Later we got to hear Natalie Grant sing and share, and the evening ended on a high note with her concert.

Ephesians 3:20 "God can do anything, you know- far more than you can ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!"

Look on my sidebar for links; I can't add them to the post from this computer. Booksneeze provided me with two tickets to this amazing experience as a "Women of Faith blogger." (And an extra bonus- I got to meet three more blogging friends so far!)

  2. Ellen, It was such a joy to meet you and your sweet daughter. I'm so thankful for Melissa's sprint to that shuttle Friday night! We did enjoy our family time after the conference, too, with a subway ride and a trip to the aquarium. So much fun!

  4. Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I loved the speakers also. My favorite (well, one of them) was Angie Smith. I'm reading her new book now What women Fear. It is so good.
