Help Teaching Review

As a member of the TOS Homeschool Review Crew, we received a one-year subscription to Help Teaching Pro from HelpTeaching.com

Even without a paid subscription, you can use many things on their website, so take a look around. With an online subscription, you can also save the worksheets that you create.

There are even classes and multiple links to other helpful we can use. This website is indeed a help to my teaching.

Our homeschool is changing as my second daughter will be graduating very soon. I looked for things to interest my son and found so much science including physics which he is beginning to read and circuits which he already enjoys exploring.

Ours is a musical family, and both of my girls teach music. We searched and found images of the instruments they play  and much more. One worksheet we found was about incorporating music in the classroom.

There are existing worksheets in addition to tools to make your own. Arts and performing arts as well as music theory and music history.

Music history worksheets cover everything from medieval music to modern music. Research is required to develop lesson plans to some of the worksheets. Thankfully, answer keys are also available. Tests can even be taken online! The history of bebop, big band, swing, jazz, and more is at your fingertips.

As the coordinator of tickets for local plays for our homeschool group, I’ve shared hints through the years about audience etiquette. There is a pre-made worksheet specifically for concert etiquette.

The website also offers online lessons for self directed learning.

Spelling in our homeschool has taken many different forms through the years. Last spring I found spelling books with great lists that I’ve been using weekly to teach my son. He has learned the lists week after week but doesn’t enjoy repeatedly writing the words. I used the worksheets generator to change things up for him, and it was a hit. I put both correct and incorrect versions of his current word list into a word search puzzle to change our weekly spelling routine.

I’m planning to teach a book class for younger children than mine in our co-op next fall, and I found worksheets about several children’s books.

My daughter has been working on ACT prep diligently. I didn’t find ACT prep on helpteaching.com, but I did find some SAT prep which we read through.

This website has been useful even in unexpected ways, and they are continuing to add more and more useful content. I recommend it to others who homeschool.
