Scripture and a Snapshot

Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. Titus 2:3-5
When I was much younger, I spent many wonderful weekends with my Grandmother. On Saturday mornings, she would wake up early and cook a big breakfast. I'd sleep as late as I could, and I remember telling her I'd rather sleep than eat. She would wake me up anyway, and she taught me that breakfast was the most important meal of the day. She also taught me about keeping pancakes warm on a plate in the oven while more were cooking, and she had a window in her oven door. I could see the pancakes on the plate and watch her cakes rise as they baked. Saturday mornings at our house are somewhat relaxed when we can spend most of the day at home. Lessons learned from my dear Grandmother live on in my family even though my husband and children never had the chance to meet her. I chose an oven with a window because of her. And I keep my pancakes warm in the oven, like she did. She taught me so much. I wish I had cherished those breakfasts together more while they lasted.
