Bible Bee Beginnings

The kids were excited to open the box and find out what verses they would be learning this summer for the National Bible Bee. It had a familiar look, but changes were obvious from last year, too. They searched through the box for their verse cards while pulling out their books and t-shirts. No cards. Then we found them in the back of the book. There was a set in the parent guide, too. We decided to laminate them since they would be handled a lot.

The version we memorized last summer wasn't available this year. We decided to memorize from the King James Version which was primarily what I memorized as a child. Each child also got a new Bible Bee KJV Bible. The book includes all of the versions of memory cards.

Each week is designed to end (or start, depending how you look at it) with a family bonfire. Last year we had our kick off inside with a candle burning. This year we actually had a bonfire complete with s'mores to kick off our summer Bible Bee plans.

Do you have plans with your family that you repeat each summer?

" Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour,
and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen"
  Revelation 7:12

Disclaimer: Our family was provided with registration to the National Bible Bee in exchange for sharing about it on my blog. No other compensation was provided.
