D is for Dinosaur

D is for Dinosaur is a children's book that teaches about Noah's Ark and the Genesis Flood through a series of sentences in alphabetical order. Each page highlights a letter as well as a sentence about dinosaurs. My eight year old son enjoyed this book and after the first time I read it, he read it out loud to his sisters.

The format is a bit different from a typical book. The design allows it to stand on a table while you read- hands free! The side facing the children has the full page color picture and words of the story. The side you read from has much, much more. First, in bold print, the Let's Read section shows the exact words that are on the page with the picture. Below is an example from the U page.

Then The Starting Point confirms the fact shared on that page with a relevant Bible passage which is shared in full. Bible Bits are bulleted facts broken down into understandable language to read to your child or even help them memorize. Let's Talk questions facilitate discussion.  The Always Remember section contains a sentence for your child to repeat back to you. Stuff to Do suggests activities beyond reading to help clarify the truths shared. Each "teacher" page ends with a Quick Review.

At the end of the story are even more teaching tips, eighteen pages more! This is a good book when you are just beginning to introduce letters or for older children. Using the resources shared above, this could be shared over and over again with something new each time.

We downloaded the D is for Dinosaur coloring pages that coordinate with the book's pictures. Joseph colored the continent one which went along with our history lesson.
