Oh my goodness! How cute is that? I love to watch ducklings in the spring!
Thanks for coming by and entering my "bag of books giveaway" and for helping to spread the word. I'm here to return the favor and follow you back (if I'm not already-- I'll check).
Caging them works. The older two in the picture were 2 of 8 when we started, and they followed my husband like he was the lead duck from their pen down to the pond each day. But only those two survived once they were set free. Today Donald (the pretty one in the picture with the dog) was killed. We don't have a good long term record with ducks once they are free to attacks from wild things in the pond and woods. I have a feeling these babies will be kept caged a lot longer now.
I just read your comment about Donald. I'm sorry to read that. It's a shame that happened. You hate to keep them caged, but then you hate them to be in danger. Hopefully, these ducklings will do better when they get older.
It is beautiful to see the children rolling the cage of ducklings down to the water. Bet they really loved their splashing. So glad you have the picture of Donald and sorry about the loss.
Country life,who needs the city!
ReplyDeleteLove this sequence of photos! The ducklings are so sweet:) We are really enjoying our chicks right now!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason the title had me thinking along the lines of classes at the YMCA... :) This was far sweeter!
ReplyDeleteFun shots! Have a great WW.
ReplyDeleteMy entry.
Yes, Jane, much sweeter. We had classes at the Y several years ago. :)

We never thought of caging the ducks before introducing them to water...you didn't have to chase yours. Fantastic!

ReplyDeleteJennifer,
ReplyDeleteThis post is totally not what I expected. It looks like they did well. Were mama and daddy(?) proud?
