Encouragement

The Homeschool Village has a theme for January's link ups of encouraging each other. Do you get discouraged?

We were late for church this morning. Then when we dropped Emmy off with her Sunday School teacher we learned that there was a pot luck planned. No, I didn't bring anything. I didn't know. But we stayed for the last bit of our Sunday School class then worshiped in church as a family. Then in church we participated in The Lord's Supper together. By then my outlook had changed from rushed and lacking, to calm and worshipful. The music we sang including one I had never heard before spoke to my soul as I read and sang the words.

Our Pastor shared the words of Jesus Christ: "This is my body which is broken for you. Take. eat....This is my blood which is shed for you. Drink it." Though traditionally we call this portion of our service The Lord's Supper, it has also been called Eucharist. From the Greek word Eucharisto, broken down in the book I recently read simply into giving thanks. It encourages me to see little connections like that.

I hope you are experiencing joy in your life.

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Romans 14:17

  1. Well, after reading through other posts in this meme I see that the real theme is accomplishments. So, if you are linking here from there just be encouraged. :)

  2. I am experiencing more moments like that too, Jennifer. I have a copy of the book but haven't read it yet.

I have been keeping my gratitude list on my blog on Mondays, and I am amazed at how God has used that to change my thinking. I more often find myself finding the good in situations instead of seeing only the worst!

  3. Thanks Jennifer, I'm typing that list now. You are so right, He is continuing to change my thinking, too. It is a blessing to see the good.
