The Virtual Refrigerator

drawing of dog
Shetland Sheepdog by Emily, colored pencils

Emily has been drawing animals, often cats, and rarely dogs. The lesson for this Shetland Sheepdog came from the book The Art of Drawing Animals. This is one of her two favorite art books. She said this one showed her a lot of techniques and explained things well like the anatomy of a horse. Her other current favorite is Draw and Paint 50 Animals: Dogs, Cats, Birds, Horses and More which she likes because it shows how to draw from pictures and is mostly in full color.

When my oldest was young I struggled with finding ways to encourage his very obvious artistic talent, as a mom who barely draws stick figures. Fortunately we had someone who came along and mentored him. I was soooooooooooo grateful! I love seeing options available for learning the arts. Thanks for sharing.

    1. I'm a mom who barely draws, too, though now I try with my kids to do things I've never done before. What a wonderful blessing to have a mentor for your son.
