Zondervan's Homeschool Mom's Bible ~ A Review

Zondervan provided two versions of their new Homeschool Mom's Bible to members of the TOS Schoolhouse Review Crew. I received the KJV (King James Version)  which is the version that I memorized as a child and still love to read. I think KJV might be my heart language. Though I had been reading a downloaded version of Scripture on my iPad, my husband drew the line at reading the iPad at church. So with more and more e book options, this Bible is also helping me get back into the habit of reading God's Word on paper. It is also available as an e book, though.

Mixed within the pages are 365 one-page devotions written just for homeschool moms. Many have seemed to be written just for me, speaking words of Scripture to situations right then as if I were conversing with a friend. One day, in fact, the Scripture referenced in the devotion was one of the same exact ones that a friend had used to encourage me the day before. Maybe these verses in the devotions seem so fitting to my current needs because they were written by a homeschool mom, someone who has experienced circumstances similar to me. "Daily personal encouragement" is suggested on the cover and is indeed provided in the verses and devotions.

The daily meditations with prayers were written by Janet Tatman, "a veteran homeschooling mother with more than 25 years of experience homeschooling." Either version of this hardcover Bible is available for $34.99.  Other formats are also available. I should probably note that my hardcover Bible also came with a dust jacket. Some may like that extra, but mine disappeared.

When I told my mom that I was officially a stay at home mom no longer working outside  of the home earlier this fall, her almost immediate response was that I would be even busier now. Funny how that worked. She was right. My days have been extremely full. The devotional I pictured is a fitting example of how these daily lessons fit this season of my life. Patience is definitely a necessity.

In addition to the daily devotions, the Homeschool Mom's Bible includes a topical index for the encouragement shared in the devotions. Do you have a mission statement for your homeschool? We are guided to the words from Deuteronomy 6:5-7. There are 19 different passage shared about training children in faith.

"So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom." Psalm 90:12

I mentioned that I memorized verses from the KJV as a child. Now it is the version our whole family is memorizing. This Homeschool Mom's Bible is obviously mine, but our whole family will continue to use it.
