Every December we hang up the Advent calendar my Grandmother made for me when I was a little girl. My kids take turns snapping ornaments onto the tree each day.
The details amaze me, the tiny touches she put into her work of love.
Those are my favorite Christmas decorations!!! We set up my Maw Maw's Christmas village that she left to me, and it just makes me warm inside to see HER all in it!!!! Merry Christmas to your family!!!!
We used to have a similiar one that my mom made and I loved it, unfortunately it was lost in the confusion of my parents divorce. Thank you for bringing a precious memory back to mind.
I met a woman last week at the nursing home who was celebrating her 100th birthday, and she had an advent calender like that. :) So neat! I was amazed at the detail too!
What a lovely family tradition to share with your children! We have a hand-crafted advent calendar (not sure who made it, I think it was purchased at a craft fair) that my husband's aunt gave us many years ago. I love that you use ornaments for the countdown on yours!
This is my THIRD apptempt to comment. I hate tech glitches. What a lovely tradition to share with your children. I love that you use ornaments for the countdown. We have a handcrafted advent calendar that my husband's aunt gave us many years ago. Not as nice as yours but still a highlight of our advent preparations.
Very neat. I love Christmas tradtions!! Having special items from family members is wonderful - I love using my grandma's old fashioned Christmas cookie cutters and making her homemade sugar cookie dough every year. Lots of work but worth it! Stopping by from the Crew and following, too. :)
