quick trip to the capitol

On the last night in Virginia, we stopped work early and took a quick trip to Washington DC. We saw a few things from the bus then walked to the Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial.

  3. Stacie, my kids had never been. There was still so much to see, but our time was so limited. I am glad that we had the chance to go.

  5. So, how did your kids like it? When my son visited, he was impressed at all the Bible verses inscribed all over the area.

    The buildings certainly look impressive.

  6. My middle child had been researching Abraham Lincoln, so this was on the top of her list of places she wanted to see. She enjoyed it, especially getting to see it at night.

My oldest daughter said she enjoyed seeing the monuments she had only read about before.

My youngest liked seeing the helicopters (secret service?) flying overhead.

My hubby wants to go back and spend a week there.

  8. I am so jealous. That looks like a wonderful day/trip! I wanted to finish up our year of American History with a trip to the capital but DH's job didn't allow for it this year. I'll be watching for more pics from you and live vicariously through your trip :)

  9. Great pictures! (I'll be sure to hide this post from my oldest so that she doesn't start begging me for another trip back "home" to DC.)

  11. Leslie, a few pictures are scheduled to post in the morning of our visit to Arlington National Cemetery. The rest of the trip was in Virginia, and I'll share those pictures soon. It was a wonderful wrap-up to learning about our country.
