Dragons: Legends & Lore of Dinosaurs

We started the day laughing. Joseph hopped up into our bed before I was fully awake, and him lifting his arms is an automatic request to be tickled. He found his Bible story book and read it out loud to me, and we laughed together more at mispronunciations. The girls practiced music and we all searched for their metronome/tuner. More giggles when it appeared right on top of the keyboard keys. There was a little more subdued laughter from Joseph when he realized that what he thinks is not always the way things are. I showed him pictures that a friend's daughters had made of dragons. "Dragons aren't real, Mommy." My response first made his eyes open wide at the thought of dragons in the Bible. "But the kind that breathe fire?"

If you or your children have an interest in dragons, you may also want to see this book for yourself.
Dragons: Legends & Lore of Dinosaurs

This huge hardback book is filled with extra surprises, the kind that can keep my kids' attention. Little envelopes with mini drawings, fold out pages bigger than four feet wide, mini books within the pages, and flaps disguised as antique doors reveal even more.

Obviously written from a Biblical viewpoint, I enjoyed the references to the Bible throughout the book. As much as I appreciated that, there were also references to the easily changeable wikipedia cited in the book. The illustrations are stunning. There are references to historical documents and maps, and even a "dragon timeline." I enjoyed the facts, but there are a lot of theories included in the book as well.

     From the publisher:

A fascinating presentation on dragons and their biblical connection will shed light on the truth of their existence and connection to the last living dinosaurs. Powerful, fire-breathing, fantastic beings that have left their legacy on this world and can now only be found in the pages of ancient texts. DRAGONS!
Dragons: Legends & Lore of Dinosaurs is a juvenile nonfiction title enjoyable for all ages! It takes you back to the days of these amazing creatures and their presence in various cultures including Asia, the Americas, and Europe. Read of thrilling historical battles between dragons, and saints, and their ability to terrorize medieval castles. Mystical fantasies brought to life, as the truth is revealed.
