fun, countrified

We had a quiet morning the day after Christmas with fresh orange juice with eggs for brunch prepared by my husband, all while listening to Teddy's Button. We didn't take down the Christmas decorations; we enjoyed the family time together. It was a special treat to have Mitch home from work on a weekday.

The big excitement started yesterday afternoon. Despite the rain (the most in over a month) and the mud (enough to pull Heather's tennis shoe right off of her foot) my husband was determined to put up the big gift for the kids outside. He had the tractor out preparing the yard earlier this week, and the kids had no idea of the reason behind it.

     Have you guessed yet?
I'll give you two more hints:

The kids got a zip line! Of course I have all kinds of question about safety, but Mitch tried it out first.

His next plan is to build a small platform on the tree house balcony so the ladder won't be necessary. It was almost as much fun listening to the kids share all of the details with Grandma and Grandpa over the phone last night, especially Joseph's step by step instructions on how they can try it out when they visit next spring!

  5. Joseph is ready for that, too. The kids actually quit today because they were getting callouses on their hands. Come on over!!! It is fun.

  9. Wow! I love all that space that you have to have a treehouse and super exciting zip-line! My boys would love it! My mom has that kind of space at her house (15 hours away)--maybe she'd like to put one up for our summer visits, lol.
