TOS Crew Review: SCRUBLE Cube

Our Scruble Cube arrived within days of my oldest daughter's birthday, so we let her open the package and claim it as her own.

Joseph has been playing with a Rubix Cube lately, and as soon as my daughter opened the box he compared the two. In fact, the ad by the company compares it to both the Rubix Cube and a Scrabble game.

From the company:

We even created some great lesson plans that actually fit into standard curriculum.  The lessons are tied to math, language and science at the following link... http://www.scrublecube.com/education.html  Here’s what you will find:

Periodic Table of Scruble Fun
(Science - Grades 5 to 10) (PDF of Lesson Plan)

Scruble Cube Points
(Language and Mathematics - Grades 3 to 6) (PDF of Lesson Plan and PDF of Worksheet) This lesson plan goes with the worksheet below.

Scruble Cube PDF Worksheet
(Language and Mathematics - Grades 3 to 6) (PDF of Lesson Plan and PDF of Worksheet)

Scruble Make a Sentence
(English and Spelling - Grades 3 to 5) (PDF of Lesson Plan)

Scruble Vowel Math
(Language and Mathematics - Grades 3 to 5) (PDF of Lesson Plan)

Scruble Word Logic
(Spelling and Mathematics - Grades 3 to 8) (PDF of Lesson Plan)
As you can see, there is a lot of educational potential in this one cube.

It can be challenging with the timer running to come up with long words that can be arranged on the cube quickly. We easily created simple words, but with time this will be a fun spelling tool and much more than just a game. As well as the rows turning, each letter can rotate so it fits the direction of the word being created.

There was a cautionary note that it is fragile, so we were careful when handling it not to drop it. Ours is still intact.

Scruble Cube is available here for $24.95. Each Scruble Cube is packaged with a timer and a score pad.

Disclaimer: As a reviewer for the 2011-2012 TOS Homeschool Review Crew, I was given a Scrubble Cube for the purpose of this review. Be sure to check out other reviews at the TOS Homeschool Crew Blog.

  3. Doreen, so many crew review items have turned into blessings.

Lexi, I'm fine admitting that the kids are playing with this a lot more than I am.
