looking back...

     On the radio this morning I heard that 25 years ago today was the tragic Challenger explosion. Our country has not forgotten.

      I learned last month that my Aunt, as a teacher, went through Astronaut training. Could you imagine? I mean really, can you? My oldest daughter loved studying Astronomy. Her chances of actually becoming an astronaut, especially with the upcoming changes to our space program are minimal, but she can dream. We can all still dream.



     We met another famous female astronaut while we vacationed and toured NASA at Cape Canaveral. I loved hearing her tell of an extreme change from being in the Navy during the Cold War to actually training with the crew of a Russian Space Station.

  1. I can remember the day this happened. I was six years old and I was waiting for the bus to come pick me up for afternoon kindergarten. I was waiting in the house by our bay windows and my mom had the news on. I remember the feelings of sadness and confusion as I headed to school that day.

  2. You are a little younger than me. I was in jr. high school and one of our teachers had received special permission to roll a tv/stand into the classroom for us to watch. We all watched together in shock.

  4. That was a sad day. I was in the dentist's office and heard it on the radio. I looked at a lady who was sitting near me just to see her reaction so I could know if I had heard correctly (since I was a kid). Thank you for honouring them on your blog. It reminds us to remember.
