Scripture and a Snapshot

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you... And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. I Peter 5:6-7, 10
Circumstances dictated my plans today. I'm sorry for the silly out of focus picture. We heard a loud crash last night and then found out it was my closet rod. So today, I sorted through clothes and continued the clean out by sorting what had been stored in boxes. My husband repaired the closet, and it looks much neater now that it's not quite so full. There was no suffering in that, so it doesn't fit perfectly with these verses, but there was a restoration of sorts.

  1. I have been decluttering and getting rid of excess since the turn of the new year. It's amazing how easy it is to collect too much stuff...especially when you love home decor, clothes, and shoes like I do!

  2. We heard a similar loud noise in the middle of the night once at our last home. It was the closet rod in a spare bedroom - the rod that was holding up all my hubby's suits/dress clothes. Of course, I couldn't just go back to sleep when I was thinking about what a wrinkled mess was being created in the other room, so I got up, picked up all the clothes off the floor and laid them out. That relieved a little anxiety during the middle of the night! Your comment made me think about how often circumstances dictate our plans for the day. Our response is the key, and I'm sure I don't always respond correctly.

  4. Decluttering is a good thing - inside and out.
