Not What I Expected

I like happy endings.

When my husband took the kids and me to see God's Not Dead 2, we saw the preview for Me Before You. It flashed across the screen that it was based on a book, and I turned to my daughter and told her I wanted to read that book. You know, the book is almost always better than the movie.

The quick preview grabbed my interest. Wheelchair bound man meets beautiful girl. It hinted that she made him happy, that his life was changing for the better. As an Occupational Therapist, when I hear of movies and books that touch on my role, I want to see more.

Our library had the book online. I read it with shock to learn that there are actual places that people go for the purpose of assisted suicide. I didn't want to believe it. The place referenced in the book is a real place.

As an OT, my job is to help people gain independence. I have worked for over 20 years to help patients, clients, students, family, and friends both stretch and strengthen as well as adapt and change to live life to their fullest potential.

This book seems to say it's not worth it. But that is so very wrong.

Don't believe that lie.

A friend shared this view with me: You Before Me is better. Yes it is!

"I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants" Deuteronomy 30:19

  1. It seems that everywhere we turn we are encouraged to believe and accept something that is contrary to the truth of God's Word!
