21 Lessons for 20th Century American Music Appreciation

When I was in college, I joined the university choir. It provided a small scholarship, new opportunities, and some additional required music lessons that were an enjoyment and at the time to me a completely new experience. Along with voice lessons, one of the classes I took then was music appreciation. I remember for the first time listening to the individual instruments and trying to determine which one I was hearing. My children have all had a variety of music lessons from a very young age. Along with their instruments, they have all learned some music theory. My girls are even teaching beginner students piano and violin. One thing that we have not focused on consistently is music history. That is about to change.

This fall I'm diving into American music using Gena Mayo's brand new ebook curriculum  21 Lessons in 20th Century American Music Appreciation. As we study songs that tie in perfectly with our American history lessons, I'll share a review with you.

"I think this product is unique and will be very attractive to lots of homeschool moms, as well as music teachers. When I started writing it last summer, it was because I did a lot of research and couldn't find anything like it on the market. It can easily be taught both at home, in a classroom, or at a homeschool co-op." ~ Gena Mayo
