Favorite Foods ~ July Blogging Challenge 20

Though I originally planned to do so and still plan to write ahead before our camping weekend, these posts haven't been written ahead of time. So today is one of those topics I covered already, this one on day 14. So instead of repeating myself, I'll tell you about a childhood favorite food that has changed over time but continues to be a favorite. Green bean casserole is one of my comfort foods. I remember my Grandmother making it and sharing in the late 70s or early 80s that it cost $8 to make one casserole. I'd heat the leftovers from this and her amazing sweet potato casserole when I visited her during the holidays.

We make it differently almost every time, but this is the famous recipe is the original version from my childhood. Having the card from my Grandmother in her handwriting is a treasure. Accent isn't in our cabinet; I'm pretty sure it's just MSG in a bottle. We also leave out the pimientos and water chestnuts.

When my senior was in kindergarten, she brought home a paper listing facts about her, and green bean casserole (complete with a drawing of it) was featured as her favorite food.

What is your favorite food?
Jennifer

  1. Yummy that sounds good. It's been awhile since I've had green bean casserole.
