Downtime ~ July Blogging Challenge

Lazy days in a hammock with a good book and a tall glass of sweet tea are things from the pages of a good book instead of our reality. Our downtime comes in bits and pieces, but we relax and enjoy it when we recognize it.

Swimming is one of the things we fill that time with. These summer days are hot, so hot that our swimming time usually happens late in the evening. Twice this week friends came to visit and the kids swam. Last night, after a busy hot day for all of us, we all five jumped in the pool to relax. A simple pot of macaroni was our dinner plan, and my husband joked that the pool was hot enough to boil the noodles. It felt wonderful!

Games are another of our downtime fun activities. The game of Life and Dutch Blitz have been our most frequent choices lately.

Books are grabbed when we can. I attempted another quiet reading time for all of us one afternoon last week. Sometimes I read at night, but more often than not I've just fallen asleep lately.

Do you have more downtime in the summe? How do you fill your downtime?

  1. LOL about boiling the noodles in the pool! We've had days that felt that hot too! We're glad to have a pool for our downtime again this summer.
