Date Night "Better With M"

Last night my husband and I attended the "Better With M" campaign kick-off celebration. A "date night" without the kids has become rare in recent years, and this was just the thing to make me want to resume our weekly evenings out.

Highlights of the ‘Better With M’ kick-off celebration included a three-course, M&M’S milk-chocolate infused dining experience created by renowned New Orleans chef and restaurateur, John Besh, an appearance by the Grammy-award winning Rebirth Brass Band and a rare, live performance by the multi-talented, Vanessa Williams. Proceeds from the event will benefit the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity.

Though we were asked to keep the location a secret until after the event, when we arrived it was easy to see that we were at the right place.

Better With M

M&M'S were highlighted in both obvious and unexpected ways around The Foundry such as filling the vases, detailed chocolate carvings, and even the light fixtures. During the cocktail reception, while stars walked the Red Carpet (which was actually brown in honor of Ms. Brown!) we were were treated to an amazing assortment of appetizers. The M&M'S inspired macaroons were my favorite.

Our dinner seating assignments were M&M's color coded and the tables were named after streets in New Orleans. We had the best seats at the Canal Street table, front and center stage, one star filled table separating us from the stage. Dinner was even more delicious than I had anticipated. Chef John Besh presented each course that he created especially for the #betterwithmms occasion.

As soon as dessert was served, Vanessa William's concert began. She was accompanied by a talented band including her own daughter. Throughout the evening, Ms. Brown (Vanessa Williams is the voice of the brown M&M) shared details about how M&M's wants to make a difference. Our table also included employees of Habitat for Humanity, and they shared about one of the houses the campaign was aiding that was started that day. One of the speakers was the international head of Habitat for Humanity.

The campaign focuses on how M&M’S makes everyday moments fun and delicious, and our date night was exactly that!

We didn't leave the kids out of all of the fun. This was the treat that we left for them to make their movie "better with m."
