Broccoli Salad

My husband loves this salad. We first tried it at a church potluck dinner when we were newlyweds. The lady sitting beside us had made it and was happy to share her recipe. It has been changed up since then  (it actually changes a little every time I make it), but this is the basic recipe:

1 head broccoli (washed and cut into bite sized pieces)
1/2 cup bacon (crisply cooked then crumbled)
1/2 cup raisins (you can substitute craisins)
1/2 large purple onion, chopped very fine
1/2 cup sunflower seeds

dressing:
1/8 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup mayonaise

Mix the vinegar and sugar and stir until dissolved. Add the mayonnaise and your dressing is complete. Mix all other ingredients and gently combine with dressing. It is fast to assemble, but even better the second day after the flavors have merged together. Enjoy and share!

  1. Hi Jennifer! This salad is so good! We've had it before, but I've never actually made it. I do know that when it shows up at our church pitch-ins, it doesn't last long! Thanks for sharing the recipe, and the photo! :)

Want to say that I am so blessed that you are following my 'Borne Image Food-o-graphy' blog ... thank you!! I've not updated that one for quite awhile, now. Family circumstances have pulled me away, but I do plan on getting back soon to share more recipes, and photos, etc.. I just joined here, and am following you now, as well. You have lots of good things on homeschooling ... oh, how I miss those days! My son is grown, and married now. Seasons of life are ever changing, and we continue to trust in the Lord, moving on to the next 'phase', and growing in faith! I'll look forward to visiting again, and maybe see more of your photography on Katie's Scripture & a Snapshot link-up! I get so encouraged reading through the entries! I've also entered a few times from my other blog, 'A Quiet Strength'. You have a blessed week, and stay cool ... we're going to be in the 100's for the next few days!!

    Blessings to you!
