Go Science DVDs from Library & Ed

One of my all time favorite resource companies is Library & Educational Services. They allowed us to choose two of the GO SCIENCE DVDs from this set of 6 for this review. If you are not familiar with Library & Ed, they offer significantly reduced prices on books and media. I've ordered through them for many gifts since another homeschooling mom first introduced me to the company. Be sure to sign up for their e-mail newsletter when you set up an account, and watch for the sales.

We picked Volume 4- Chemistry, States of Matter, and Life Sciences; and Volume 5- Air Flight. Also included in the series (and reviewed by others on the TOS Homeschool Review Crew) are: Volume 1- Motion, Volume 2- Simple Machines, Sound, and Weather; Volume 3- Magnetism, Electricity, Engineering, and Design; and Volume 6- Water, Space, and Solar System. They are available for $8.97 each or the complete set of 6 for $47.95. The two that we received were 43 and 48 minutes long.

From the website:
"Even kids who claim an aversion to science will be engaged by the high-energy science demonstrations of Ben Roy! Ben teaches science methods at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and is the former director of a science program on television. With this expertise, Ben captivates, motivates, and inspires students to be excited about science, while providing effective instruction based on science phenomena. Each spectacular demonstration of physical or chemical science has a spiritual application and points to our Creator!
Each demonstration ranges in time from 3 to 6 minutes.
Recommended for ages 6-14
These episodes were originally produced for a religious television show."

How it worked for us:
As a family, we watched the videos together. The demonstration that my children were most eager to try was the "Egg in the Bottle" which was not as simple as it appeared. It took a few trials, but when it finally did work, it was cool.
The Library & Ed website:
Soon after I started homeschooling, a friend shared the Library & Ed website with me. I signed up for their e-mail newsletter and began ordering after reading of their special prices. For over five years now, this has been one of my favorite resources. For this review, the company shared a free shipping offer with reviewers. I placed an order for books to use with school as well as birthday gifts for my children. I've even found books in the past for 10 for $1.00 that I have purchased to include in children's gifts. To place an order, you do have to sign up as a customer. If you qualify, sign up now. Items are ocasionally back ordered, such as the Paul... that I ordered to complement my current Bible study. The company representatives have always been quick to respond to any questions that I have written in e-mails.

Disclaimer: As part of the TOS Homeschool Review Crew, we received the aforementioned DVDs for this review as well as an offer for free shipping of any additional items we chose to purchase at the time of the DVD order. Opinions shared are my own with family input.
