Advent Reading

Several years ago a friend shared about Jotham's Journey: A Storybook for Advent. We started it this year and have been reading it right before bedtime each night. This is the first story that all of my children have listened to equally absorbed, and my son asks for more every night. I wish all of our reading kept their interest so completely.
Earlier this week I bookmarked a page to share. The reading is divided into chapters, designed to be read one chapter each night through all of Advent and concluding on Christmas day. Each chapter ends with a short devotion such as this excerpt:
"As we celebrate the Christmas season, remember that there wouldn't be a Christmas season if it weren't for God's merciful love. Because he loves us, he has shown us mercy by sending his only son to us. ... What this story does tell us is that God provided (a) way for all people to come to Jesus."

  3. I have heard so many good things about this title and a few others like it. I wish my boys would sit still for a read aloud before bed, but we end up with different things all the time.

Thanks for sharing and linking up to the 40 Days of Seeking Him meme.

Feel free to link up this week, too.
