Homeschool Crew Review: The Person I Marry

Bower books shared an online link to view their beautiful book: The Person I Marry by Gary Bower, illustrated by Jan Bower. This is a sweet picture book to enjoy with young children, but even appropriate for older ones, too. The subtitle is Things I'll Think About Long Before Saying I Do. It makes a nice conversation starter. My oldest daughter, who likes to draw, especially enjoyed the pictures. Original oil paintings are also available for purchase at the Bower Family Books website.

This book is available in a 4 book set with 3 other "Bright Future" titles for $39.96 or individually for $11.49 You can even request personalized autographs with your order. This book would make a beautiful gift.

The Person I Marry starts out as a story told from a child's point of view about attending a wedding and their Mother's advice. It continues as thoughts of what would make someone be "the marrying type." Positive character traits are painted into the pictures background as they are woven into the poem.
"The vows I say I mean to keep,
so I'll look hard before I leap."

The book ends with one of my favorite verses: Jeremiah 29:11. Then on the back page is a place to write.

from the publisher:
Our book has received wonderful endorsements from Gary SmalleyEric & Leslie Ludy, and the Duggar Family.  This book is part of our "Bright Future Series" which shares Biblical principles for families in beautiful and down-to-earth ways.  The Person I Marry was awarded "2010 Book of the Year" by the Christian Small Publisher Association.  We created this book the year of our 30th anniversary as a tool for tenderizing the hearts of our own 12 children, and sparking comfortable conversation about marriage amongst ourselves.

Disclaimer: As a reviewer for the 2011-2012 TOS Homeschool Review Crew, I was given an online link to view this book for the purpose of this review. Be sure to check out other reviews at the TOS Homeschool Crew Blog.
