Wedding Party

A friend's daughter's wedding was this weekend. Just the fact that children of my friends are old enough to get married is still shocking, though several have this year. Weddings always make me nostalgic and remind me of my own. This was a whirlwind of a trip to the East coast of Florida and back in less than 4 days. Emily put it this way “I had fun. Everything needs to rewind and we can do it again.” I'll share a glimpse with you.

At beautiful Anastasia State Park the aisle was sand. I had never attended a beach wedding before; and have looked forward to this since we first heard about it. Instead of rose petals, the flower girl scattered sea pebbles in front of the bride, and my son played in the sand throughout the ceremony.

Of course, we added in a few extra outings into the trip to see local attractions. We had a little extra time between pictures on the beach and the actual wedding, so we went to the St. Augustine lighthouse. It was closed, but we saw the outside and took more pictures under their beautiful trees.
Thanks to Wendy (dear friend and Mom of the precious flower girl) for this picture.

The bride and groom were married under a chuppah. I first learned of the significance of that in a Bible study by Beth Moore. I love when tradition and things important to each family are used in the ceremony.

  2. Jennifer, Thanks, but you are going to make me cry for real. They have grown up from riding tricycles way too fast!

  7. It looks like a gorgeous wedding! And I know what you means about being old enough to have friends whose kids are getting married. Some of mine have started becoming grandparents!

  8. Oh, I want a beach wedding! OK, I'm already married, but I didn't have a real wedding. I would love to renew my vows someday.

  9. Beautiful and I'm not a beach lover LOL I love the idea of a chuppah and hope my children will decide to use that on their big day - I love joining our Jewish roots to being a Christian today.

  10. Jennifer, you are very welcome for the pictures! Mary Grace and I had so much fun on the trip with you and your family!! I agree that we should rewind and do it all over again. :) It's not often that I enjoy traveling that far in just a few days, but we enjoyed every minute of the trip!
