Book review: From the Mouth of Babes

From the Mouth of Babes
From the Mouth of Babes: Stories about life, children, faith and the world we live in by Kimberly Williams reads like a lot of deep conversations with a close friend. I actually expected cute stories about and shared by her children, but instead the subtitle and back cover better fit the content. She shares her beliefs and views about many life issues. Each chapter can stand alone, you could even search the index for a specific topic and read that way if you choose.

Scriptures relating to each topic are shared throughout the book. The author's recommendations point you to find answers in God's Word. Kimberly Williams shares boldly as this quote from p. 113 illustrates " We must love people with the love of Christ and fight for their souls. We must stand up for what is right without fear and never compromise on the Word of God."

Another chapter "Oh be careful little eyes...what you read" is very applicable to our lives right now. So much that in my memory is innocent, once I revisit it is not something that I want my children exposed to. She shares: "I am weak; therefore I must constantly be filling my mind with the things of God." Then later in that chapter: " If we are to grow in our faith then we must be more familiar with the Scriptures than anything else."

Other topics covered are subdivided into stories about marriage and children, life and spiritual growth, the church and our culture, and holidays ans special occasions. As she shares on p. 161 and from Scripture, older women are to teach and encourage younger women. Many lessons in this book are ones that I want my children to learn.
