My Hiding Place

The children and I were blessed this week to attend a Ballet Magnificat production of Corrie Ten Boom’s book The Hiding Place.
Before the ballet began, an announcer shared a synopsis of the true story. We recently listened to the audio book as a family, and the ballet followed the book closely. The announcer shared that near where he is from there is what had once been a concentration camp. The whole ballet troupe that was dancing in this production had the opportunity to tour that place. He shared that they hoped to share Christ’s love, and were planning to return to Europe to share the production there.
The opening song was one of my personal favorites: You are My Hiding Place. The dancing was beautiful, and the story though sad was even more beautiful.
Tears poured down my face as I watched this, and after it ended my friend who sat behind me shared that she cried throughout it, too. Our pastor asked Sunday if we had ever experienced persecution for our faith. It is hard to imagine the trials that Corrie and her sister (and so many others) experienced.
After the war ended Corrie Ten Boom shared with many people about her experiences and how faith in Jesus carried her through. The ballet showed her speech at the World Peace Conference in the 1960’s. The same Nazi soldier who had killed her sister in the concentration camp approached her at that talk and Corrie forgave them!
You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Ps. 32:7 NIV

  1. Wow. My family would love to see that. We listened to The Hiding Place on CD. I believe it was done by Radio Music Broadcast theatre. It was so moving & we are huge fans of Corrie ten Boom & her grandfather. We've used her grandfather's advice on several occasionals. It's my 15 yr old daughter's favorite book. What a blessing to see it in ballet! Holly
